Amen. is a 2002 historical war drama directed and co-written by Costa-Gavras, based on Rolf Hochhuth's play The Deputy. SS officer Kurt Gerstein, who has direct knowledge of the gassings at Belzec, tries to alert the Vatican and the Allies, joined by a young Jesuit priest determined to make Pope Pius XII speak out against the Holocaust.
