Horatio Hornblower: The Fire Ship (UK title: The Examination for Lieutenant) is a 1998 ITV/A&E television film directed by Andrew Grieve, starring Ioan Gruffudd, Robert Lindsay, Denis Lawson, and Ian McNeice. Lt. Hornblower studies for his promotion examination while facing serious supply problems on his crew. Based on part of C. S. Forester's Mr. Midshipman Hornblower.
