Nine

Nine is a 2009 romantic musical drama film directed and co-produced by Rob Marshall that draws from both a stage musical and Fellini's classic film. The movie features an ensemble cast including Daniel Day-Lewis as the lead character, a filmmaker experiencing creative crisis in 1960s Rome. The narrative loosely adapts the Broadway musical, which itself was inspired by the Italian cinema classic 8½. The film received mixed critical reception despite showcasing strong performances from its cast, particularly Marion Cotillard. Financially, it underperformed, earning $54 million globally against an $80 million budget.
