Goodnight Mister Tom is a 1998 British Carlton Television film directed by Jack Gold, adapted from Michelle Magorian's novel. Set during World War II, a young evacuee named William Beech is placed in the care of reclusive widower Tom Oakley (John Thaw) in a rural English village, where he gradually finds love and healing after escaping an abusive home.
