Pop (Russian: Поп; also released as The Priest) is a 2009 Russian drama film directed by Vladimir Khotinenko. The film begins in June 1941 in the village of Tikhoye in Soviet Latvia, following Father Alexander as he walks a tightrope between faithful Christian service and loyalty to his country and people under Nazi occupation. He and his wife secretly harbor Jewish orphans before he is imprisoned by the NKVD on collaboration charges after the Soviets return.
