Beginners is a 2011 American romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Mike Mills. Based on Mills's own experience of his father coming out as gay at age 75, the film stars Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, and Mélanie Laurent. Plummer won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
